Whether in the workplace or at home, keys which can be used to access prohibited areas or work dangerous equipment need to themselves be kept under lock and key. Using a secure key cabinets can be a great solution, as there are several different types available:

Key lock
The traditional lock and key cabinet is still the most popular type of secure locking system for keeping keys under wraps. They are typically made from steel and can vary in size from small key “lockers” which store around ten keys up to large key “vaults” which can store several hundred keys.

Combination lock
The combination key safe cabinet generally has a combination of four sets of numbers which are set on a wheel and can be rolled around to enter a pre-set access code. Combination locks have several benefits over traditional lock and key systems; there are no keys to lose and therefore get replaced, and if someone forgets the combination, a quick reminder of the code is all that is needed. Also, the combination code can be frequently changed to ensure even greater security.

Electronic lock
The electronic or digital key safe cabinet is similar to the combination key safe cabinet. However, rather than having a wheel with numbers on, an electronic lock uses a digital keypad instead. Electronic locks enjoy all of the same advantages which combination locks have, while also offering much easier access via a simple to use keypad.
